The Local Area
Welcome to our corner of Spain
“After coming back year after year, Caserio del Mirador has grown with our kids. We now spend more time exploring the local area with beach days, walking, bike rides etc. as well as our lazy days hanging around the hotel.”

A Land of Contrasts, a Haven for the Senses

Beaches

There’s nothing quite like a day beside the seaside and we’re fortunate enough to be surrounded by 70km of coastline on our peninsular, some of the best family-friendly beaches in Spain are within half an hour’s drive.
From the serene scallop shell-shaped cove of Granadella, the sheltered El Portet beach in Moraira, with its winning shallow waters and soft golden sands to the more lively, restaurant-lined Arenal beach in Javea, with lots of activities and perfect for a slap-up lunch at the family favourite, Pizza Pepa. We’ll set you off for the day with buckets, spades, towels and umbrellas.

Activities

For those who love getting out in nature, our hotel is surrounded by spectacular natural scenery, ideal for exploring on two feet, or two wheels. For experienced hikers, trek along ancient trails conquering the five-hour Sierra Bernia peak, the highest point on the peninsular, reaching 1,150m with 360°views taking in the coast from Alicante castle to Valencia, and all the way out to Ibiza.
If cycling is more your bag, the area is popular with international cycling teams who love the challenging mountain routes, silky roads, and limited traffic in sunny conditions.
Culture

Our local town of Xaló prides itself on a rich history of producing specialist foods from the land, where artisan traditions are central to life. Visit local vineyards and taste some of the biggest up and coming wines in Spain from Pepe Mendoza. You can explore local olive oils, the honey shop, artisan bakers and butchers and any number of lively bars and restaurants.
Each town has a strong sense of identity with its picturesque church and plaza where meeting for a drink and a tapa is a daily ritual. The city of Valencia is an increasingly popular destination with lots to do for children and only an hour’s drive away, the perfect city break for a day out.
