Home-Cooked Family Meals

Lovingly Prepared Food from our Outdoor Kitchen

“What a wonderful holiday, the first time it’s felt like a holiday since having B. As a massive foodie, the food was a highlight for me and felt like I was dining out at my favourite restaurant every night.”

Healthy Mediterranean Dining

Kid-friendly food done well

Food is a highlight at Caserio del Mirador and nothing pleases us more than seeing our guests tucking into our homemade dishes, as laughter drifts through the warm Mediterranean breeze from our alfresco kitchen, surrounded by breathtaking valley views. Our Resident Chef

Our resident chef with his son, Jean-Marc is an expert making kid-friendly food

Meet Joan Marc, your resident chef for the week. His mother owned our favourite restaurant in Xaló where we enjoyed many happy occasions.

Joan Marc grew up immersed in a world of great local food and hospitality. He brings the same spirit here with a wonderful touch for seasonal ingredients. He speaks perfect English, introducing each dish with his infectious passion.

Stress-Free Kids Teatime

Nutritious favourites & fun new flavours

Keeping children happy at mealtimes can be tricky, but not at Caserio del Mirador. We offer relaxed children’s teatime five times a week, serving familiar favorites to help them feel relaxed and confident, sausages, pasta, and always broccoli and carrot sticks. The more adventurous enjoy some typical tapas, prawns and calamari, meatballs and tortilla, and paella is popular with the little ones. And while they tuck in, parents enjoy a drink or two. Don’t forget to ask for scraps to feed our pigs Peppa and Daisy too!

“The children’s meals were fantastic, with such variety, so that every child could find something they liked. During this time, Sarah and Johnny kept the parents drinks topped up, which helped the conversation to flow.”

What makes kids’ teatime at Caserío del Mirador different from typical hotel dining?

Unlike noisy resort dining rooms, kids’ teatime at Caserío del Mirador is relaxed, family-centred and sociable. It is served at a large shared table in our alfresco dining area, where children eat together and parents can enjoy a drink and conversation in a calm, informal setting.

Are children’s meals at Caserío del Mirador healthy and varied?

Yes. Kids’ teatime offers nutritious, home-cooked food with a wide variety of flavours, from familiar favourites to more adventurous options. Eating together at a shared table encourages children to try new foods, with enough choice that there is always something each child enjoys.

Is Caserío del Mirador a good place to start Baby Led Weaning?

Yes. The relaxed, supportive environment makes Caserío del Mirador ideal for baby-led weaning, with plenty of healthy options and a judgment-free approach where mess is part of the experience. Babies can explore a variety of textures and tastes at their own pace whilst parents relax knowing staff will clean up the mess afterwards.

Sunday mornings can be a slow start after a busy travel day. Relax knowing that lunch is a gastronomic spectacle where Joan Marc shares his knowledge of paella. The loving process of preparing ingredients begins at midday and by 1 o’clock the pans are sizzling. Watch this beloved dish come to life in its authentic setting.

For the children, Joan Marc creates a specific paella with simpler ingredients and without salt. He cooks the traditional Valencian paella with pork, chicken and vegetables. Depending on the eating preference of the group, in addition he will make a seafood, vegetarian or vegan paella that is shared with everyone.

Relaxed Adult Dining

Social Dinners for Foodies

After an active day parenting, it’s wonderful to have some likeminded adult time. Evening dinner has a sense of occasion starting with an aperitif on the outside terrace, basking in the balmy evening.

Breakfast

Every morning a breakfast hamper is delivered to your front door where you’ll wake up to the smell of warm croissants and sun-ripened fruit, with a supply of yoghurts and Weetabix left in your apartment upon arrival.

If you’re an early riser, borrow a basket and collect some freshly-laid eggs from our chickens to take back and cook in your room. At Caserio del Mirador, what’s ours is yours.

Home grown & locally farmed ingredients

Our kitchen garden provides us with the freshest seasonal sun ripened fruit and vegetables. Come and see it for yourself, sample the produce and collect eggs from the chickens. We irrigate with our recycled water and use animal manure to keep the soil healthy and chemical free. The local weekly markets support local farmers, and this gives us another source of healthy sustainable food using less transport and less packaging.

The Honesty Bar

We want your family holiday in Spain to feel like staying with friends so you’re welcome to raid our 24/7 honesty bar by the pool that is piled high with chilled beers, wine, spirits and ice-cream.

There’s complimentary ice, fresh fruit and snacks, tea and coffee-making facilities and a filtered water tap should you want to refill any bottles. Pull up a stool and make yourself at home.

Family Dining Options

Our healthy Mediterranean meals are available five days a week, with all catering requirements covered for your first few days stay over the weekend. No need to go out and shop, as your fridge and kitchen already have the basics, and breakfast is served to your apartment every day.

Supper is served on your terrace on Saturday and Sunday evening, Sunday paella lunch is a big occasion, and candle-lit communal dinners are on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, perfect for when the little ones hit the pillow.

Guests are welcome to opt-in to dining for the duration of their stay or on a request basis. We’ll gladly recommend local restaurants or supermarkets should you fancy whipping something up in the privacy of your own apartment.
